Bale Escaped United Clutches!

Bale Escaped United Clutches!

One of the biggest threats to United extending their unbeaten run at White Hart Lane, is the Welshman, Gareth Bale.

Bale has sprung to prominence this season with a series of devastating displays, none more so than that incredible hat-trick in the San Siro Stadium in the Champions League.

Ahead of the fixture, Sir Alex Ferguson has remarked on how Bale was being tracked by United but a deal couldn`t be finalised when he remarked to the tabloid hacks,

"We tried to sign him as a 16 or 17 year old boy. But it never got to the last stage."

"They must have alerted Tottenham - we made a good offer but they turned it down."

"Bale has tremendous speed and is a great crosser of the ball."

"He`s made an exciting contribution this season."

Now we can only wonder if things had off turned out differently! What sort of impact would Bale have made at Old Trafford.

Meh. United made an offer, apparently worth 5 million quid. Southampton were looking at twice that. United refused to up their offer. Spurs then came in with a deal worth 10 million. Southhampton accepted. The rest is history. Simply put, we valued him at more than you did back then. Anyway, the sums being haggled about back then for him seem laughable now, considering that the board probably value him at five times the amount we originally paid. ;)

Yaaaawn, Fergie never changes does he ? Every time we're about to play each other old red nose either declares interest or puts in a enquiry into 1 of our many Stars. You DID miss an opportunity but we DIDN'T, you can keep your cash coz Bale nor our Board are interested.

Ah, yes, back in the days when manure actually had the money to buy players. Not to worry, the young Mickey Owne is a much better prospect, right?

Oh well, I will take a Ronaldo over a Bale and a Robben every day of the week.
