United - Hernandez Pressing For a Starting Place?

With Wayne Rooney rested, primarily because of an ankle knock, his replacement Javier Hernandez certainly took the opportunity to stake his claim for a regular place in the starting eleven.

His sublime strike, one of many this season, ensured all three points went our way last night.

Afterwards, when pressed on the possibility of Hernandez keeping out a fit again Wayne Rooney, sometime in the very near future, Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say to the assembled journalists,

"Of course it will be hard to leave Chico out - that`s the kind of problem you want. Over the years the strikers I`ve had have always given me that problem."

"If Chico keeps sticking the ball in the net it does give me a problem."


A great problem to have we`d say and one that provides the boss with so many options!

He was brilliant but who do you swap him for? Rooney carried us during Westbrom and does alot more than score goal, Berby is our topscorer. I think he will have to settle as being a supersub, atleast until one is injured or off-form.

I would have to agree with TFN7, you just cant leave out Rooney, he does so much more than score goals, and Berba is banging them in, so until they get injured or need a rest he will have to be on the bench.. However he is right behind them, no place for complacency..

There is still a half a season to go plus the latter stages of the champ league, between fergie resting rooney and berba in the lead up to really big prem/champ league games, plus any unwanted injuries(fingers crossed we don't get any). I'd say he'll get a good few more starts, what he has done so far is phenomenal and its nice to see someone play with such enthusiasm for the game and the shirt. Great signing.
