'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Ferdinand on Two Dropped Points!

Yet again two points escapes us due to a late goal and the inability to hold onto a lead.

It`s a trait that has dogged us all season and a trait that we thought, in recent games, we`d eliminated.

After the game, Rio Ferdinand touched on just such a point when he remarked to the media,

"We need to shut teams out like that and we didn`t manage to."

"We should have got the three points at Birmingham but we`ll be looking to the next one instead now."

"The title race is open for four or five teams to go and take it. But we want to be that team."

We certainly do, but did we detect a little bit of an excuse when Rio also added, although rapidly trying to back-track,

"It`s a bouncy pitch at Birmingham and they get right into you, as you`d expect. But that`s what makes the Premier League such a great league."

"It throws up all different situations and you`ve got to be able to deal with them."

Perhaps we should console ourselves with the fact that St Andrews is a difficult place to go, just as Sir Alex Ferguson had warned beforehand and that we`ll not be the only title contenders to come away having dropped points.
