United - Fletcher Bites Back!

Old wounds are often opened up whenever we take on Arsenal, it`s the nature of the beast I guess.

Last season, Darren Fletcher took offence when Arsene Wenger described him as a dirty player, on the eve of the next clash between the two giants, Fletcher has hit back denying that Arsene`s comments were in any way apt, remarking,

"Things are said in the heat of the moment and I would rather not dwell on it. I don`t think I`m a dirty player - I know I`m not a dirty player."

"I go to win the ball and sometimes you give away fouls doing that but it`s not malicious. It`s all part of the British game."

"The referees here use a lot of common sense and they know when players are generally trying to win the ball and those going out to hurt people."

Well said, perhaps we should remind Arsene just which side, out of the two, has an uncanny habit of collecting the most red cards!

Wenger is one of the biggest hypocrites not just in english football but in the world. However, its laughable that so many undermine his managerial ability due to a dry patch and believe that his hypocrisy makes him a worse manager. Well done Fletcher for rising above it, hopefully we do the same against Arsenal on Monday.

Wenger never even mentioned Fletcher's name during that post match interview.

True, Fletchers name was never mentioned. I will say personally though, that Fletcher is a dirty player.

Fletcher doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the box responding to something which was said almost an year back. AW didn't name Fletcher at all but I guess Fletcher's guilty conscience is talking now.
