'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Ferguson on Finishing Top!

A point is all we need tonight to ensure that we take that vital top spot in Group C tonight!

A failure to do so would leave us at the mercy of UEFA and the possibility that we could be drawn against one of the three big guns in the first knockout stages, the big three being Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

It`s something that Sir Alex is obviously aware of and in the build up to the fixture tonight has spoken about Barcelona`s recent 5-0 demolition of Real Madrid and also avoiding the big three, remarking to the assembled media,

To avoid Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich

"With Barcelona, if you get them on one of their good days, they can do that to anyone."

"It was a marvelous performance but even before the Champions League started, they would have been one of the favourites anyway. They have days, though, like everyone else, when they can be beaten."

"But the sensible approach is to try and avoid the bigger hitters like Real, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the number one teams in their groups at the moment."

"We can only do that if we finish first in our group - and that is what we want to do."

A hiccup tonight could prove to be very costly!
