United - Valencia Preview!

Its crunch time at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening!

Although Manchester United have qualified for the knockout stages of the Premier League, Sir Alex Ferguson knows it is beneficial to finish top with the knockout draw giving you that vital second leg at home.

Valencia visit Old Trafford and United know they need only a point to guarantee top spot in the group, but Valencia also know that if they can pull off a win they will pip United to top spot.

To do that the Spanish side would have to become the first side to score against us in the competition this season. Speaking about the importance of taking that top spot, Edwin van der Sar has commented,

"We may be through now but we want to get top spot to avoid any of the big teams in the earlier rounds."

Sir Alex though may have a few selection problems for the fixture. Missing, through injury will be Antonio Valencia and Owen Hargreaves and although Michael Owen has resumed training we reckon he`ll get no more than a place on the bench, at best.

With the game, against Blackpool having been postponed, Sir Alex may want to keep some of his stars ticking over although he may want to rest several ahead of the big clash with Arsenal this forthcoming weekend.

We really have no idea as to what the stating eleven will be, all we do know is that it promises to be one of those magical European nights whereby we really don`t have that much to lose, apart from top spot.

Valencia, although a decent enough side, don`t have the exquisite skills of David Villa and David Silva anymore and we reckon United can and will win this!

Hey folks - if the Glazers ever want to sell there will be plenty of people like these willing to take you over PMSL. P.S. Sorry Nordkrap, the MEN isn't the best paper in the world, but it is our LOCAL newspaper... http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1388224_burmas_military_regime_planned_1bn_bid_for_manchester_united

Some much missed football!

Yeah, bit strange for the ref to call off the game V Blackpool the day before the match when the temperatures were above freezing for at least 24 hours before hand - show a lack of respect for the fans who bought tickets and planned to travel. Fixture congestion is something I'm sure you'd prefer not to have as well.
