United - £100 Million Transfer Chest?

Following on from our 4-0 Carling Cup defeat at Upton Park, the red-top press have gone into overdrive.

Their loveable hacks have convinced themselves that our squad, despite having only one poor result, isn`t good enough.

They`ve dragged up quotes form past-players that suggest our youngsters are not as good as those that previously came through the youth system.

But today they have surpassed themselves, one red-top carries an exclusive that due to the circumstances unveiled by that 4-0 reverse, Sir Alex Ferguson will be given a transfer treasure chest of some £100 million to help achieve the transition whereby the ageing members of the squad (Neville, Giggs and Scholes) can be replaced with ready made stars.

Now we`re not sure whether the article carries genuine intentions or whether it`s just chucked together as an attention seeker but ignoring that fact, which three players would you, given the chance, spend that £100 million on?

I think we need some creativity in midfield, Scholes is almost out, and we are going to need someone special to take over from him. Sneijder is a good choice, but I am not sure he will leave Inter, and maybe he would demand a rediculous salary. I would love to see Essien, but thats never going to happen. On top of a creative midfielder we need a goalkeeper, the Dane is unproven, and mabye Reyna could be an option, and lets take Torres of the scousers while we are splashing the dough around.

With Neville retiring im comfortable knowing that a very talanted Rafael is taking over the RB role comfortably and he hasn't even reached his true potential yet. I feel we need to strengthen our midfield with, like nordkap said above me, a creative midfielder. I personally would go for Hamsik who is relatively young, appears to have a Premier League build and gets plenty of goals but also with Cleverly hitting them left, right and centre at Wigan I reckon he should take priority in that position. On the wings we've got Nani, Valencia, Obertan, Bebe and Park so replacing Giggs isn't and urgency. If we had 100 mil to spent it should be invested in other areas of the team.

haha, you do not have 100m to spend. You will get about £20m which will have to rebuild your whole squad.. lolz!

Hilarious, United scream poverty when Manchester City are concerned yet (and if this story is true) will splash out in January. The words Pot, Kettle and Black spring to mind!

Ferguson will probably spend most of it buying crates of whiskey...
Jayman_LFC
Jayman this is all based on the assumption that, even if we do have that money, Fergie will spend it. Fergie knows the impact it will have on the youngsters and we may lose some serious talent if we go on a spending spree buying players that aren't needed until the youngsters are given a chance atleast.
