United - Welbeck Deal a No-Go?

It`s a subject we`ve touched on previously!

Danny Welbeck, up at the Stadium of Light on loan, is hitting the headlines with his goal-scoring prowess. Such has been his impact, in recent matches, that we`ve pontificated as to whether his progress could well be pricing him out of the market with regards to a move or indeed making him an essential part of our squad next season.

It`s a point that the Sunderland boss, and ex-United hero, Steve Bruce has spoken eloquently about to the media, where he`s quoted as having remarked,

"The way that Danny is going, if he continues his progress, he`ll be out of reach of any but the very biggest clubs around."

"Danny is playing terrifically well at the moment and the Premier League is beginning to take notice. I`m delighted for him because I think he`s really finding his feet with us and his success is our success. But in terms of converting any loan player to a permanent signing, you have to accept in most cases, the better they do, the less chance you have of getting them."

"Danny`s put down a marker with his performances in recent games."

"The challenge for him is to maintain them now. He`s a real prospect and he`s shown the quality that makes Manchester United rate him so highly."

"He has a bright future in the game and we`re starting to see some of his best form."

"I`m pleased because I`ve always liked what I`ve seen from him and I`m glad that`s coming out in his time here."

"But I think we`re lucky to have been able to get in a lot of young players with a point to prove, players hungry to impress."

To me, it looks as if Steve has already resigned himself to the fact that Danny`s Sunderland career will come to an end come May next year and that Sir Alex will not be selling the lad!

They may get him on loan again or if it makes them happy they can have Owen. Welbeck and Cleverly have been magnificent out on loan and it will be a good day when they continue their exploits in United colours.
