'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manchester United 7 Blackburn 1

United swept aside Blackburn Rovers with considerable ease this afternoon with Dimitar Berbatov answering his critics in emphatic style with a five goal blast.

Sir Alex Ferguson made six changes to the side that triumphed at Ibrox in midweek, the most notable of these being the return of the defensive trio of Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra.

United - Van der Sar, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Park, Berbatov, Rooney

Subs - Kuszczak, Giggs, Hernandez, O`Shea, Evans, Fletcher, Obertan

United got off to a great start opening the scoring after only 75 seconds, although there was a hint of controversy about the goal. Robinson and Anderson both slid to meet a ball and Robinson appeared to be injured, the ball fell to Nani and when his ball into the area was flicked on to Berbatov, the Bulgarian ended his goal drought with Robinson still limping back towards his goal.

United 1 Blackburn 0 (Berbatov - 2 minutes)

Buzzing, courtesy of that early goal, United were taking Blackburn apart with Rooney and Berbatov combining well but it was to be Park that was to double the lead.

The Korean burst forward, exchanged a great one-two with Rooney before firing past Robinson.

United 2 Blackburn 0 (Park - 23 minutes)

We only had t wait four minutes for a third goal and what a gift it was. Chimbonda played, quite possibly, the worst back pass of the season where the waiting Berbatov simply collected it and lashed it past Robinson.

United 3 Blackburn 0 (Berbatov - 27 minutes)

A Nani free kick almost added a fourth with Vidic just failing to get a touch before it scraped the outside of the post.

Half Time - United 3 Blackburn 0

United didn`t take their foot off the pedal in the second half and Berbatov cemented his hat-trick with only three minutes of the half gone with possibly his best goal of the game.

Collecting the ball some eighty yards from goal, the Bulgarian was instrumental in starting the move and when the ball was fed into the box, by Nani, there was Berbatov rushing forward to score past Robinson.

United 4 Blackburn 0 (Berbatov - 47 minutes)

A minute later United were 5-0 up when Nani turned a defender inside out, checked back onto his left foot and beat Robinson.

United 5 Blackburn 0 (Nani - 48 minutes)

Blackburn somewhat steadied the sinking ship for a few minutes but they couldn`t halt the United tide and Berbatov was to make it six, and four for him when Rafael found Park, who saw his shot blocked only for Berbatov to net the rebound.

United 6 Blackburn 0 (Berbatov - 62 minutes)

Eight minutes later the Bulgarian netted again, his fifth of the game, when he finished off a move that had initially seen his cross towards Rooney blocked.

United 7 Blackburn 0 (Berbatov - 70 minutes)

With the United crowd expecting the avalanche to continue, it was Blackburn that got a consolation goal when Samba climbed high to head past Van der Sar after a corner that had originally been cleared was played back into the danger area.

United 7 Blackburn 1 (Samba - 83 minutes)

Berbatov had a great chance to make history by becoming the first player in Premier League history to score a double hat trick but his header from a Rooney, was saved by Robinson.

United were on fire and long may it continue!

And to add further glory to the happy day, the pathetic bitters, only managed to get a draw against Stoke... They were all beaming last week when they beat Fulham, but now they are back to their useless self... old habits die hard.

A good week-end perhaps ended on bit of a downer when Fergie said VDS will retire after this year, though perhaps a further incentive to win it this year. Good result now lets go on and smash the league!

NK - "glory"? Beating Blackburn and using the word glory to describe it, bit ott. You really do have it bad about City mate, worried much?

Have to say Berbatov's third goal was the goal of the season so far for me,he did everything in the build up.
