United - Evra on Winning the League!

United - Evra on Winning the League!

A fourteen game unbeaten run is a decent enough start to the season, but is it?

We may be joint top, but behind on goal difference, but we`ve fallen into a trap of dropping so many points already this season that you could be thinking for believing that we should already be disappearing into the distance as those beneath us, most notably Chelsea and Arsenal, falter spectacularly.

But, on the positive side, at least the side is starting, in fits and starts, to play better and our defence definitely looks more secure now that Rio Ferdinand is back.

Patrice Evra, celebrating a rare Premier League goal for United, spoke about such things when besieged by the media following the 2-0 win over plucky Wigan, remarking,

"When you want to win the league, you have to win even when you are not playing well."

"But we know we can play much better."

"The most important thing is to win though. Sometimes you have games when you`re not great, but if you get three points it doesn`t matter."

"We must make sure against Blackburn next Saturday that we play from the first minute, not at the end of the game."

"When we play at home we need to be more aggressive and score more goals to bring back the Manchester United way, the way we always play."

"The best is definitely still to come from United. If we were playing like the real Manchester United we would be top of the league with a five-point lead by now. But now let`s see how we do from here."

Disappear into the distance if matters go well I`d like to think!
