United - Fergie On A Great Day!

United have taken advantage of the recent blip in form shown by Chelsea, to lie joint top with the London club but with a slightly inferior goal difference.

Yesterday, churning out a 2-0 win over a Wigan side depleted to nine men; may well have been seen as an opportunity to improve that goal difference but it wasn`t to be.

After the match, Sir Alex Ferguson spoke about the events that had culminated in three points being taken, remarking,

"It was a good day for us, no question. This league is high quality and we did well because Wigan are a very aggressive team."

"It was hard to break them down and we are finding we are playing our best football in the last 20 minutes of matches. We are obviously capable of scoring goals and that makes a big difference to the way we played."

"I`d have taken the Chelsea result and our performance at the start of the day. I don`t think may people expected us to be level with them."

With Chelsea facing a difficult away game at Newcastle next Saturday, now must surely be the time to kick on!
