United - A Berbatov Swoop?

A little snippet of potential transfer gossip almost snuck under the radar this morning!

One media source were valiantly claiming that they had inside information that an £18 million bid for Dimitar Berbatov would be winging its way to Old Trafford shortly.

The club prepared to splash the cash is the Turkish side, Fenerbache!

Now we reckon that back in the close season they might have stood a chance as Sir Alex Ferguson, based on Berbatov`s form last season, might well have considered it a suitable fee that could be suitably invested on other players.

But, after his great start to the season, although in fairness his form has tailed off lately, we`d suggest no deal would be the response from within the Old Trafford boardroom!

Fergie admires Berbys ability so we won't be seeing him in any other kit for a few years yet. I will be very suprised if Fergie sold him.

too inconsistent by half to be a world class striker :-)

£18million? Bite their hands off, they seem to be the only mugs who'll take that waste of space off your hands.

the trick with berba is that he needs to be the focal point of the attack. that is the system he will flourish in. the offense need to pass through him. with united, they have a system which relies on pacy players and blistering counter attacks to get goals. sure, they pass the ball around too but not too much for berba to take a stranglehold of the game. 18mil for his age is a great price. considering the fact that he never plays the important games i.e. cl or epl games against top teams.
