United - Next Goal Wins?

I`ve always been puzzled as to why playing at home give sides the initiative!

Take away the partisan crowd and possibly slightly different pitch dimensions and all you have is the same eleven players doing their business.

But, history shows it is usually the home side that sets out their stall and dictates the pattern of the game, therefore, City should possibly take most of the blame last night for turning such an occasion into what could quite easily be called a bore-fest.

Edwin Van der Sar had, possibly, the quietest night of his season and afterwards gave his views on City`s reluctance to attack, explaining,

"City didn`t really come forward. They were clearly aiming for a point and hoping for more, whereas we really wanted to win and played like it."

"They were more defensive and I didn`t really have much to do apart from save a free kick. If the game had lasted longer, we might have got more from it."

Anyone for next goal wins next time then?
