I`ve always thought that our ageing trio of Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes would go down into the history books as being loyal servants to one club - Manchester United.
But, as the sands of time witness a changing global scene a rumour has surfaced that depicts the three departing Old Trafford for pastures anew.
Even though all three have probably amassed a pretty decent fortune during their time at Old Trafford, is there a real chance that the lure of one last bumper pay-deal might tempt the trio away from their current locality to a foreign shore?
One leading tabloid appears to think so and has a story gracing the back page that infers the trio could soon strut their stuff on golden sands.
Seemingly, David O`Leary in charge of the Arab club, Al Ahli, would like to tempt all three with the prospect of a weekly salary of £200,000 a week, a pretty tidy sum.
The story is backed up by quotes from the obligatory source at Old Trafford who is quoted as having remarked, when pressed on the subject naturally,
"Ryan is a legend at United and still an important part of the team but, like Scholesy and Gary Neville, he can`t go on for ever."
"He has always rejected moves but this is a very attractive way for him to end his playing career, a last big pay-day in the sun."
"The same goes for Scholesy and Nev."
Personally I`d be surprised if the three were to opt for a last hurrah in the sun but then again, we`ve been surprised before have we not!
