United - Hounding Rooney!

Sunning himself in Dubai, accompanied by the lovely Coleen, did you really expect the tabloid press to let the duo sunbathe in peace?

Although we`ve already expressed out disapproval that Rooney has slunk off to Dubai so soon after the whirlwind he`d caused blew so many skeletons out of the cupboard, we`re of the opinion that now he`s there he should be let be.

Unfortunately, nobody mentioned this to Joe Public or the tabloid press!

Today, opening up the pages of The Sun we`re confronted with an article that takes great pride in reporting that a member of Joe Public finally got to confront Wayne at the exclusive seven-star hotel they are staying in.

Now we didn`t expect a sparkling conversation debating world affairs to be the outcome of the conversation as that just isn`t the sort of thing that sells papers. So it doesn`t come as too much of a surprise to read that the member of Joe Public simply grunted,

"Do you feel you`ve let down United fans?"

To which the reported reply from Wayne was simply,

"No!"

Followed by the startling admission, and obviously the phrase that got splashed across the front page to entice Joe Public in their thousands to snatch copies of the tabloid off the shelves,

"I was never going to leave Man United."

Broadsheets eat your heart out, stuff your world affairs, stuff your financial and budgetary outpourings, stuff your government exposures can`t you see this is the most newsworthy event of yesterday - I think not!

Like we said earlier, just let the lad be and let`s all wait until he returns home!
