United - That Attendance!

Everybody knows that the Carling Cup come way down on the priority list for the big clubs, but having won it the last two seasons, I have to say that the attendance at Old Trafford last night wasn`t what I was expecting.

Okay, everybody accepted that the United starting eleven wouldn`t be as strong as Sir Alex Ferguson would normally select for a Premier League game thereby providing one negative aspect to the night but on appositive side we were playing Premier League opposition and a team, in Wolves, who had serious designs on making the last eight of the competition.

So to see the figure 46,083 pop up was a little disappointing and as we quite rightly anticipated has given the tabloid media an excuse to probe away at our recent financial expenditure on contracts against gate revenue.

But things could, I suppose, have been worse, it could have been lower and at least it doesn`t nestle in the record books as the lowest ever attendance at Old Trafford, in the modern era, that record belongs to the occasion Barnet visited us in the same competition some five years ago when there were approximately 3,000 fewer in the ground!

But unlike last night, I`d suggest that was probably expected!

The bubble has definitely burst!

Thought it was a top attendance - live on sky full price for adults to watch Ben Amos & Park (who is so poor it's hard to put into words) Most fans I know have opted out of the Lge Cup because if United can't be bothered why should we !!

Maybe the roadworks on the M6 put your fans off making the journey north?

Not many teams fill their stadiums at Carling Cup games because of obvious reasons.
