United - Simply Brilliant!

United - Simply Brilliant!

With Rooney absent, Javier Hernandez has certainly grasped his opportunity with both hands (or should that be both feet).

For the second game in succession, Javier has hit a late winner and last night, just as the game was heading towards extra-time and a possible penalty shoot-out, the young Mexican produced a goal that was probably his best in a United shirt so far.

No wonder Sir Alex Ferguson was in a buoyant mood for his traditional after match interview when he enthused about the youngster,

"He was brilliant, it was a magnificent goal. We tend to build up heroes very quickly here - but the boy is justifying the praise he`s getting at the moment."

"The kid is such a great professional and he`s first in and last out of training."

"When he came on you just knew if he got a chance he would take it. He dummied the defender really well, shaped to shoot and it was a great finish."

The lad is on a roll and after having scooped the Vital Manchester United MOTM for the Stoke fixture, there`s a good chance his cameo appearance could see that feat repeated for the Wolves, Carling Cup, fixture.

gotta say - (in my best Andy Townsend voice) - he's certainly making the most of his opportunity!
