United - Macari on Rooney!

Lou Macari has never been a man who is afraid to air his views.

The Scotsman, who joined Manchester United from Glasgow Celtic and gave us eleven years fantastic service, often speaks good sense and whenever he`s on the television as a pundit I invariably find myself nodding my head in agreement.

Well today in the tabloid press, he`s had his say about the Wayne Rooney affair and as you`d expect from Lou, he`s pulled no punches, when he`s quoted as having remarked,

"I have never known a player have the cheek to do what he has done."

"It`s a slight on your team-mates. Had he been playing in the 70`s or 80`s the players would have left him in no doubt and would have asked just what he was playing at."

"They think they are good enough to win trophies. Does he not think that? Does he not think his team-mates are capable of winning things?"

"If he really has asked these questions of the people at the club then I would be gutted. It`s disrespectful to ask the chief executive what is going on at the club."

"I am not saying he has not got the right but I think it`s quite cheeky."

"I was here for 11 years. I know some of the players who have come and gone - better players than Wayne Rooney."

"I have never known any of them to have the cheek to ask the people who run the best football club in the world what they are doing."

"I would think the lads in that dressing room are raging."

"Rooney`s not just pointing the finger at certain people; he is pointing the finger at anybody in the dressing room. It`s wrong."

It certainly is and I can`t help feeling that now Wayne has had a change of heart and decided to stay, that dressing room spirit might never be quite the same again! Don`t you?
