United - Torres Chase On?

Rooney hasn`t gone yet, if indeed he ever does, but already the media are generating column inches about who might be recruited as his possible replacement.

One name that seems to be more prominent than others is that of Fernando Torres, the Spanish striker who appears to be out of sorts playing for Liverpool these days.

In fact the noise relating to a possible move for Torres (if Rooney goes) has reached such a crescendo that the under-fire Liverpool boss, Roy Hodgson, has seen fit to comment on the situation, remarking,

"I am not so naïve as to believe that there won`t be any danger and we will never lose a player like Torres, I can understand these things can happen."

"With Torres, I think we will cross that bridge when we come to it. There will always be speculation."

"When a great player like Wayne Rooney is looking to leave his club, Manchester United will be in a position to target a lot of players around the world."

"I don`t think Fernando Torres will be the only striker they will target, and I don`t think we will be the only club that will be worried that their striker can be targeted."

Probably not!

But if Torres were to ever leave Liverpool, do we reckon, apart from a return to European football, whether he`d go anywhere else apart from Old Trafford!

Of course Stamford Bridge. Do you really think Glazers will pay 30M for him?
Rip The Reds Apart
i bet spurs could stump up £30-£40m for him. united should buy robbie keane off us for £10m(him and berba are a proven partnership). sparky will pay £10m for bentley. another £10-15m and we have £30+m for a striker

my sources tell me Chelsea won't be buying big again!
