Mancini Keeps His Cards Close to His Chest!

Mancini Keeps His Cards Close to His Chest!

Much is being made of the possibility of Roberto Mancini orchestrating a move for the want-away Wayne Rooney.

Many see Manchester City as the only club out there who has the financial clout to satisfy Rooney`s request for a move and also satisfying his apparent desire to remain in the north-west.

But, ahead of Manchester City`s dalliance with Europa League football on Thursday night, Mancini, when pressed on the situation gave very little away other than to suggest that Rooney, when the dust settles, will be going nowhere.

This is what the Italian had to say about a possible move for Rooney,

"There has been no contact. He`s a great player but it`s not my problem. I`m concentrating on tomorrow`s match."

"He is an important player for United and I think he will stay."

"I have respect for him, for Ferguson, for United. I want to speak only about my players."

I wonder if Mancini is any good at poker!

I think he was pretty subtle in this interview but he did go on to hint that he wouldn't get Rooney by saying he has pretty much got what he needs: "He is a strong player like (Fernando) Torres, like (Lionel) Messi, like Carlos Tevez, like (Mario) Balotelli. This is my opinion."
