United - Rooney Rumour Fest Continues!

It`s still the hottest topic in the tabloid media.

The supposed tittle-tattle going on between Manchester United and Wayne Rooney continues to dominate not only the sports pages but the inner pages of the nations leading tabloids.

Today, as the topic stretches across another day the leading tabloid this country produces (self-acclaimed off course) offers further insights into why Rooney may be on the verge of departing from Old Trafford.

Apparently, Rooney feels that United are a club in decline, a club that is unable to compete in the transfer market due to the huge debt the Glazers have us operating under. He`s also more than a little aggrieved that Cristiano Ronaldo was sold to Real Madrid and that he also sees no point in committing to a new five year deal with the situation, as it is, unlikely to change.

Add to that the fact that Rooney and Ferguson have reputedly fallen out and not spoken for a month and the tabloids are having a field day. They`ve even dug out the obligatory comments form a United source, probably some bloke stood outside the ground taking the odd souvenir picture or two, with the source remarking,

"This is about money pure and simple. United don`t think Rooney is worth what he is asking, particularly in the form he is in now - and it is hard to see that changing."

"They also think he might be pushing them to get a reaction with the way he is claiming he`s never been injured."

"They haven`t decided whether to sell him yet ad they certainly don`t want to let him go in the January transfer window."

"However, if a ridiculous bid were to come in, you can never say never."

Now usually we`d describe all this as news today but fish and chip wrapping tomorrow but the fact that this story is gathering momentum continues to give me cause for concern.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring!
