United - Wise Words from an Old Friend!

United - Wise Words from an Old Friend!

Alex Stepney will always hold a place in our hearts.

It was Stepney that kept Benfica at bay as United powered to their first ever European Cup Final win, against Benfica, in 1968 at Wembley.

The 2011 Champions League Final is destine dot be played at Wembley this season and Alex is of the view that his namesake, Sir Alex Ferguson, is desperate to win the famous trophy this time around.

A win for United this season would see Sir Alex equal the record of a certain Bob Paisley who has won the trophy three times.

Speaking in his fascinating new book - Tooting Common to the Stretford End (published on October 23rd) Alex has remarked,

"Fergie is the master of his trade. Aslong as he`s in good health he won`t walk away from his job. But what drives him on is his desire to win more and break more records."

"To win it at Wembley would be extra special."

"Fergie reminds me of Sir Matt in the way he runs the club. He insists on respect at every level, especially for ex-payers eve those who were there before him."

"Busby was different to Ferguson in the dressing room, but they both instilled discipline and values in their players."

Is discipline and respect a key aspect of producing great teams, I`d like to think so and I can`t wait for October 23rd to come around so I can purchase a copy of Alex`s book and retread those years when our legendary status, as a team was cemented!

I think the only thing that really drives Alex now is the 19th league title and, finally, the fact that with the squads he has had that we should've won the European Title more.
