United`s Smalling is England`s Hero!
Last night the England U21 side beat Romania 2-1 in a European Championships play-off first leg.
The result leaves the fixture delicately poised with the second leg coming next week.
But England will be very grateful to their United contingent with Tom Cleverley being credited with an assist for the equaliser and our new central defender, Chris Smalling, making his mark with a dramatic 83rd minute winner.
Speaking about his dramatic late intervention, our young defender, had this to say,
"It`s my first England goal and only my second ever, after scoring for United in the Carling Cup. Maybe a few more people might recognize me in the streets now!"
Careful now young man, one day you`ll miss this anonymity you currently have as you stroll around the streets of Manchester!
