United - An Unexpected Chance?

United - An Unexpected Chance?

With England taking on the might of Montenegro on Tuesday evening, the grapevine suggested that Rio Ferdinand would have to be happy with a place on the bench.

Having just made his comeback from injury, it was expected that Fabio Capello would stick with Phil Jakielka at centre half with John Terry returning to partner him.

Well 'Plan A` has gone out of the window with Jagielka, unfortunately, picking up an injury that will see him sidelined for six weeks.

Having to resort to 'Plan B` with it now very likely that Rio will return tot eh side to partner Terry, Fabio will be provided with another problem.

Having previously stated that Rio Ferdinand, after the removal of Terry from the post, was his England captain, will he hand the armband back to Rio or will Stevie Gerrard cling on to it?

We`d suggest the decision may go a long way in determining just how much Rio is valued by Capello now!

Well though Gerrard has done well he is the Vice-Captain so when Ferdinand returns the band should be given to him but, like you said, whether he does or not we will find out.

let's hope he doesn't pick up an injury then!
