United - His Last Season?

United - His Last Season?

Could we be witnessing the end of an era?

Could Edwin van der Sar be about to hang up his goalkeeping gloves?

According to an interview our goalkeeping coach, Eric Steele, has given the Manchester Evening News, that could well be the case with Eric quoted as having said,

"I think Ed has made his mind up and said this is his last year."

"He is a good pro and a sensible and intelligent guy. I don`t think he will need myself or the manager to tell him that time has come."

"If he gets to Christmas and he thinks it is right to go on and the manager (Sir Alex Ferguson) thinks it is right we will make a decision."

"It is down to how he feels and performs. If he doesn`t perform the manager will make the decision. Edwin will as well."

But, although he has a stack of medals a desire to win the one that will complete the collection is driving Edwin on with Steele adding,

"He hasn`t won it (The FA Cup) and that is a big target for him."

"When we rotate our goalkeepers I think you will see Mr Van der Sar knocking on the door and asking the boss to play in the FA Cup."

It`s about time we won the FA Cup again isn`t it?

So you're in agreement of our title rotation then merling, you can keep the FA Cup and have the league this year whilst we get the Carling Cup then next year the title returns here for 3 years whilst you still keep the FA Cup.

With regards to Van Der Sar, he has been a great servant of the club and a great keeper. I can see the search for a new keep though being a long one...
