United - A Whiff of What Went On!

United - A Whiff of What Went On!

Has there ever been another fixture that has suffered a delayed kick-off for the reason ours did on Saturday?

I seriously doubt it.

But what happened did give everyone the chance to have the odd snigger or two although those who returned to the dressing room, following the pre-match warm-up might not have quite seen the funny side.

Speaking about what they found when they returned to the dressing room, Edwin Van der Sar and John O`Shea have had this to say to the media hacks.

First up, Edwin,

"I finished my warm-up and they put us in a different room. We were told not to go into the dressing room. It smelled - and the smell was horrendous."

"A lot of the lads had suits, wash-bags and shoes which they had to throw away."

"Elvis the kit-man was struggling to get the shin-pads clean."

Followed by John,

"Where`s my suit?"

"It`s in the skip as we speak. It`s being burnt for health reasons."

"There was a strange smell when we came back from our warm-up and we knew what had happened. There were eight or ten suits that had to be burned. Thankfully, we weren`t sitting underneath it when it happened."

Now that would have been a tale and a half don`t you think!
