United - The Rooney Fitness Debate?

United - The Rooney Fitness Debate?

With domestic football set to take a back seat with international football set to take centre stage again, for what seems like the umpteenth time already this season, the Rooney situation could be about to rear it`s ugly head again.

Our sources tell us that Wayne Rooney trained with the first team squad yesterday after the scan carried out on his injured ankle came back clear. Now with Sir Alex Ferguson having stated that Rooney will not be available for the next two to three weeks, there`s every possibility that the name of Rooney will not be on the team-sheet for the trip to Sunderland.

However, with the news filtering through, reputedly, that Rooney`s ankle is okay, the England management are well within there rights to summon Rooney to the England camp for a fitness test.

We`re also hearing that Rooney is also prepared to force the issue by implying to Sir Alex that he wishes to join up with the England squad. This could be a developing situation that`s well worth watching!
