United - A Ferdinand Return?

United - A Ferdinand Return?

With the defence shipping goals with alarming regularity the media are predicting that Sir Alex Ferguson will recall Rio Ferdinand tonight.

There would certainly appear to be a good case for doing so but Sir Alex is keeping us all waiting when it comes to confirmation about the centre back lining up alongside Nemanja Vidic this evening, remarking to the assembled journalists at the pre-match press conference,

"It is a decision I will take for this game. The important thing is that Rio`s coming back. He probably needs another one or two games. It goes without saying considering he`s been out for five months, that`s why we didn`t risk him at Bolton."

"We felt it was going to be a physical game and decided to stay with Vidic and Jonny Evans."

Are we to read into those remarks that Rio will be back tonight as his game is more suited to the fleet footed Valencia attack than the sheer brute force employed by Bolton?

"will he really make that much of a difference?" was what we were getting asked. Well from what I saw last night he makes a world of difference.
