'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Owen to the Rescue!

Following on from his brace at Glandford Park, in midweek, Michael Owen came off the bench to grab the equaliser yesterday.

The goal meant that Owen had scored 200 goals in club football, a unique milestone.

With Owen probably the fittest he`s been at Old Trafford, the striker may be on the verge of getting a permanent run in the side as Sir Alex tries to cajole Wayne Rooney back into the form we know he`s capable of.

After the match, Michael spoke about the game and his goal scoring, commenting to the media,

"It`s a tough place to come but we created enough chances and dominated most of the game so we`re disappointed just to get a point today."

"I am happy my goal is a milestone and scoring goals has always been part of my career, but it is tinged with disappointment at not getting three points."

"With the way the results went at the weekend, it was an opportunity to close the gap at the top, but it wasn`t to be."

No doubt there`ll be other opportunities especially as this season, looking at the results this weekend, promises to be a right old topsy-turvy campaign.
