'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United Evra`s Pain

Patrice Evra may be halfway, in a figure of speech, through the five game ban imposed by the French Football Federation following on from the Anelka scenario at South Africa 2010, but he`s not a man who is at peace with the world.

Lurking in the tabloid press this morning are some quotes from the former French skipper that seem to indicate the whole saga has left him confused and more than a little bitter, when he remarks,

"I cannot fight with everyone. I`m in pain right now."

"Certain people want to cut my head off and they are managing to do it at the moment. It`s hard because I still don`t know why I've been condemned."

Because after the monumental failure of the French hopes of World Cup glory, those in charge were looking for scapegoats and you fell nicely, as skipper, into the pigeon-hole!

I blame Domenech for the France downfall. Like England the talent is there but it is the manager who fails in finding a system that gets the best out of the talent. Give up on the national side Evra, it would be perhaps your smartest move.

and not a move I'd argue against - who needs international football!
