Spurs Tell United To Up The Bid

Manchester United will have to increase their offer for Michael Carrick to around £15million after Tottenham confirmed they have rejected a bid for the England midfielder.

Carrick, 24, is currently on England duty at the World Cup in Germany and was subject to a £10million bid to solve United's problem midfield area since the departure of Roy Keane.

Spurs spokesman: 'We can confirm we have rejected a bid from Manchester United for Michael Carrick. Michael Carrick is a player we are not looking to sell.'

Spurs would only consider an offer of around £15million for the former West Ham midfielder. Or perhaps a deal involving out-of-favour United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Straight swap for Rooney and maybe we will consider it.

"Spurs spokesman: 'We can confirm we have rejected a bid from Manchester United for Michael Carrick. Michael Carrick is a player we are not looking to sell." So much for your hopelessly optimistic lie about Spurs say "up the price"
sameoldspurs
I rate Carrick but he's not worth a penny more than 15 Million, not even sure if i'd pay 12
POMPEYMEV
20 million lol he is never worth that much, i think u should look elsewhere 2 be honest

Hes a great young player and can only get better, but i dunt think hes worth 20 million maybe 15 million at a push.if we united cant get him for that they should luck to other players.united cant go on with Smith an Fletcher in Midfield.
matty17x
Trust me i hope u dont get him ....even for £20 million

Carrick's got two choices: sign a new four-year deal like the rest of our English internationals or spend two years sweating it out in the stiffs. The Jolmeister does not bend down to player power.
Chirpy
Good player thats come on in leaps and bounds since working with Jol. As for the price...he may not be worth 15M but the mancs may pay it to complete their jigsaw that might help them push fot the title, in which case its a snip.
elbmw
I think he is very overrated. I am surprised that Man Utd can't find someone better for the same money.
The Tailor
Carrick had a great season for Spurs but is still prone to the wayward pass - I would have thought Man U would loom elsewhere but If Fergie is that desperate to have him let him go for 20M
dcollins
He did well for us last season but he's not worth £15 Million+. I would be happy seeing us get that money or Ruud plus cash. I'm really suprised MU are going for him...thought you'd go for better.
MonkeyAsh
£20 million and you can have him.
BigYid
Carrick's over priced, man utd would be better off with requelme for 10 million or diarra for 18 million, but what we dont need is a tottenham reject!
