United - Valencia Has His Operation!

How long Antonio Valencia will, exactly, be out for remains to be seen.

However, it is great to hear that the comeback road has started with Antonio having had the operation to set and repair the damage caused during the incident, against Rangers.

Regarding the operation, the club has issued a statement that reads as follows,

"The operation went well."

"A plate has been inserted to stabilise the fracture but there is obviously significant ligament damage that follows a dislocation. He will be out for a good portion of the season."

"Antonio is fine, very positive and very determined."

We`ll keep you informed of any further developments.

He's expected back February isn't he?

No way of really saying how long he'll be out with an injury like this. The medics can of course say when they think he'll be ready, but there are too many variables to be sure. Just hope for his sake that he doesn't "do an Alan Smith", as Smith was never the same again after suffering a worryingly similar injury. Time will tell, but the most important thing is keeping Valencia's spirits up, as an injury like this can really mess up a player's head. Good luck to him, it's a long road back.
