One man who probably got more pleasure out of the ninety minutes than most last night was Rio Ferdinand.
Deprived of any serious action since Emile Heskey tumbled over and wrecked our captains knee in the England training camp ahead of the 2010 World Cup, in South Africa, Rio started last night and gave an assured performance alongside Chris Smalling.
Hopefully, on reporting in to training this morning, there will have been no reaction to the physical exertions and Rio can play a major part this weekend when we encounter our old foes, Liverpool.
Speaking about his long awaited return, Rio had a brief quip for the media after the game, commenting,
"It was just great to be out there and playing, I cannot wait until the next game against Liverpool."
Neither can we, we need to get back to winning ways after a run of two consecutive draws!
