United - Owen to Leave?

Even though Sir Alex Ferguson chose not to start with Wayne Rooney yesterday, there was still no place in the starting eleven for Michael Owen.

In a leading tabloid this morning, there`s the suggestion that Owen could be a transfer target, come January once the transfer window re-opens, for the new Aston Villa manager, Gerard Houllier.

Obviously, it`s still at the early rumour stage but the tabloid infers that the deal could be a loan move or that Owen could be leaving for a nominal fee.

The rumour appears to have come about after Houllier watched Owen in the recent testimonial for Jamie Carragher and was impressed by his sharpness and fitness.

I think we`ll just sit by and see where this one leads us, don`t you?

Seems only yesterday that every red from Salford to Singapore was crowing about what a brilliant signing Owen would be, how he was much better than Tevez and that he would score more goals than Carlos too. Hindsight is a wonderful thing eh folks?

100% profit if he does go. fcb what idiot said he was going to score more than Tevez? First team football on a regular basis in comparison to perhaps the back-ups back-up it was obvious Tevez was going to score more. Also why pay 25 mil for a back up for Berby and Rooney when you can get another striker with a great goals per game ratio for free and on much less wages? Whatever way you look at it we made the smart decision.
