United - Fletcher on Scots Win!

United - Fletcher on Scots Win!

We make no apologies for continuing to cover Darren Fletcher and Scotland`s European Championship qualifying campaign.

After all we don`t want to be accused of favouring England now do we?

As we reported yesterday (Wednesday), Scotland kept all their supporters on tenterhooks with a last gasp 97th minute winner over Lichtenstein.

The papers reported that the goal, from McManus, saved Scotland`s blushes with the prospect of their worst result for years, possibly ever, being a shrill blow of the referee`s whistle away.

After the match, Darren, who won his 50th international cap, was philosophical about the result, commenting,

"It`s a win, that`s all that matters."

"We showed great resilience and battled right to the end. Sometimes it gives you confidence to know you`ve not played well but have shown great determination to score late on."

Like they say, three points is three points but you try telling me Scotland, and Darren Fletcher, weren`t expecting to get an easier three against the plucky minnows from Lichtenstein!

AUDIO: Rooney disappointed with draw

A point earned against Leicester City seemed to be a little disappointing with Manchester United hunting down a top-four place.
