United - Is He Fit to Play?

The tabloid press doesn`t make good reading for all Rooney fans at the moment.

The sordid revelations / accusations relating to his private life have done nothing but tarnish his reputation and as the country focuses on the second of the two important European Qualifying fixtures, against Switzerland, the nation is left pondering whether Rooney will be in a fit enough state of mind to play.

Naturally, that assessment will come down to the result of a chat between our star striker and Fabio Capello with the manager, obviously, having the final say.

If it is deemed that come Tuesday evening Rooney isn`t deemed fit enough, mentally, to take to the pitch in Basel, then it will, football wise, a shame with the striker, post the accusations becoming public knowledge, showing just how important to the England cause he is with those four assists on Friday evening, a fact recognized by his international comrade, James Milner, who is quoted in the tabloid press as having remarked,

"You saw on Friday what a player Wayne is and, hopefully, he can go out and get a hat-trick on Tuesday."

"He had a fantastic season last year, scoring a lot of goals and playing well and I thought he was brilliant on Friday."

"He brought players into the game, made a lot of goals and showed how unselfish he is as well."

Kind of ironic that Milner`s last sentence contains the word unselfish don`t you think, considering the circumstances?

This rumour has been doing the rounds since before the world cup, and is most likely a large part of the reason Rooney had such a mare in SA. Since it's likely that his friends, family, manager and team mates (both at yours and in the England squad) have known about this for ages, then I'd say Rooney has had enough time to come to terms with what he's done. His best performance for a long time was against Bulgaria the other night just before the rumour went public, so I'd say he's probably in the right frame of mind now - I'd say the pressure is off with the publication, and altthough he's still got to deal with the fans (Bet the Everton fans are looking forward to giving him a very warm reception indeed.) he's probably over the worst it. Until his missus decides to divorce him that is!

Hopefully it doesn't affect his on-pitch performances. Rooney really isn't doing himself justice lately after the poor World Cup, caught out on the**** with his mates after a dismal World Cup and now cheating he really is going to rattle the media's cage.
TheFamousNo7
play him I say!

wow...anger mangement sessions would do you some good RedDevilKile.... how come you didn't call him b*tch? humans are far from flawless, and they will get tempted and they will ***** someone else besides their wife...***** happens....football is one thing...private life is another...thats the big mistake UK keeps doing...probing into their lives, and not sticking to the football side only, putting pressure on every star or upcoming player and then choking them to elimination...
alexpant
no hidden meaning friedle, maybe u can tell me wich is if u think there is any ............ and alex, its not anger becuase of what he siad but to the things that r gonna be affected by this, like the team and stuff, dont tell me that even if he is ur friend u r gonna support this kind of behavior , why should we put this clown with the likes of scholes and giggs? those 2 r example for many and they really dont deserve to bow to a cheater even if he is the best player around, People like him is what **** this world, even more those that try to find an excuse to save him

RedDevilKile, are you colleen in disguise??

If rumours are true that Fergie changed his mind about giving Rooney the captaincy its a bit of a shame. Because I always thought Cesc vs Rooney would perhaphs bring back the Vieira vs Keane vibe back. Keane vs Vieira those were the days.
gronedrone
Reddevilkileen? Has a very nice ring to it.
fifthcolumnblue
Well, that was a bit extreme. Had your time to calm down?
TheFamousNo7
ok people , i think i was a bit harsh but i hope this dont affect the team performance and we get our titles back........................and to fifthcolumnblue..... back with the chaser clown lol . oh , remember that if we dont get the titles back im gonna blame rooney that in a way was a figure to be respected , not any more
RedDevilKile

Agree GREATMAN - if you sell your soul to Hello or OK Magazine then you have to expect everything in your life to be fair game to the press.
