United - Scholes` World Cup U-turn

England manager Fabio Capello has revealed how Paul Scholes changed his mind about turning out for England again the night before the 30 man party was to be announced.

Capello revealed the recent revelation ahead of England`s Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria stating that his assistant Franco Baldini was adamant Scholes wanted to be in contention for a final place. However it only took the next morning for Scholes to turn down the position in favour of staying at home.

Probably the best decision he could have made, he`s been arguably our brightest spark this season and playing as though he`s still in his prime.

Some further good news is that it seems Scholes` international speculation is coming to an end with Capello claiming he`s getting too old.

Clearly not as he`s put in some sterling performances so far this season!

I'll not disagree with that - but will he keep the standard up all season?

Been the Prem's best performer so far this season imo. Capello's an idiot if he thinks he's too old. Head and shoulders above anybody else playing in the midfield for England at the moment. That pass for Giggs volley the other week was top class and really rolled back the years. Shame he doesn't play for Spurs really ;) A pleasure to watch over the years and should he keep up this standard over the next couple of months will go down as undoubtedly the most talented and commited player this country has ever seen, apart from Jermaine Jenas of course; Ha!

It will be a truly sad day when he does eventually call time on his career.
