Vidic says it`s happened before!
As we head towards an encounter with another London side, this time in the shape of West Ham, our Serbian centre-back, Nemanja Vidic, has taken time out to reflect on a start to the season that has seen us lag behind another London club in Chelsea.
United supporters will be hoping that when troubled West Ham arrive at Old Trafford we`ll not be dropping any further points. The two dropped at Craven Cottage, last Sunday have already seen Sir Alex Ferguson rue the fact we`re having to play catch-up with the current title holders already.
But, Vidic isn`t unduly worried about this and has looked on the positive side quoting previous experiences as proof going behind this early on isn`t anything to worry about when he remarks,
"It`s happened in previous years."
"We drew against Newcastle two years ago and had some other bad results at the start of the season and still won the title."
A decent enough point but looking back, one last time to the draw at Craven Cottage, what did Vidic have to say about those lost points?
"We don`t want to be to down after this result but it`s definitely hard to take because we had the result in our hands."
"With the experience we have in our team we shouldn`t allow that to happen two minutes from the end."
"Everyone in the dressing room was disappointed. It`s a bad result, especially as we were winning in the last minute of the game."
"It`s hard to take the draw. We have to make sure the goals we lost at Fulham don`t happen again."
All solemn stuff but perhaps we could look on the bright side by implying that its only taken two games for one of our leading scorers of last season own goals to get back on the score sheet!
