'If It's Football, It's Vital'

United - Giggs on the Advancing Years!

As we head towards our second Premier League game of the season and a clash with Fulham down in West London, it`ll be interesting to see if Sir Alex Ferguson starts with Ryan Giggs.

Giggs, now in his history making nineteenth season, came off the bench on Monday evening (against Newcastle) to wrap up all three points with a clinical finish for the third goal.

It`s a probability that might just be the scenario again but Giggs is still enjoying life at United even as it approaches its conclusion.

In the tabloid press this morning, Giggs a very welcome insight into how his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson has changed over the years explaining,

"My relationship with him is different. When I first met him, I was 13. For the next 10 years you try and keep out of the way. That`s particularly the case when you`ve had a bad game."

"But he asks your advice more now than when you were a younger player. You have that experience, you`re in the changing room day in, day out."

And for those that question whether Sir Alex still has that steely determination and desire to drive United on, Ryan is in no doubt remarking,

"Don`t go thinking the desire and the hunger are no longer there. He still wants to win and still hates losing."

Lastly, and we think our young Mexican recruit, Javier Hernandez, night want to take note of the following point, Ryan explains how his personal desire to play football on a daily basis has never waivered when he comments,

"You have to relish every day. I sometimes drive into Carrington, it`s pouring down and freezing and I still can`t wait to train and take the mickey out of the foreign players with their hats and gloves on, moaning."

Javier, you`re about to find out what an English winter is all about my friend and don`t expect any sympathy from Ryan it would appear!
