United - Evra Recieves International Ban!

It was a little surprising to see the name of Patrice Evra on the team-sheet last night.

Not because I have any doubts about his ability but because his extended leave after the World cup led me to believe he might be eased back into the fold slowly.

Nevertheless, we`re sure Sir Alex knows what he is doing and Patrice gave a performance up to the standard we`d come to expect from the Frenchman.

However, today, the World Cup fiasco, whereby as captain he was the spokesperson for the players strike after Anelka had been sent home, looks set to return to the front pages in his native France with Evra, along with four others, will face a disciplinary hearing.

This is one hearing we can`t wait to find the outcome of although we suspect the French will do very little to harm their squads chances of starting their European Qualification campaign with anything other than a win, therefore expect stiff slaps on the wrists, the chance to offer an apology and a monetary fine!

But how wrong we were!

Apparently the French are particulary keen to handicap their chances of qualifying fo rthe reference tournament handing out a 5 game ban to their skipper although he fared a darnn sight better than the reported chief antagonist Nicolas Anelka who received a mounmental 18 game with Franck Ribbery copping a 3 game ban and Jeremy Toulalan a 1 game ban!

Sacre blue!

I'm not sure about the other Chelsea fans, but I welcome a 18 match ban on a regular first team starter like Anelka. 5 game ban for Evra? Just think of the extra rest time you'll get for a work-horse player becuase of this! Especially with some of the stupid friendly matches being played these days!

That was what i was thinking Bizarre_Blue. It was great to hear that Anelka was 'laughing to death' at them, it really sums up the FFF, plus Anelka wouldn't be too bothered by it anyway he retired didn't he?
