United - Carrick as Hungry as Ever!

United - Carrick as Hungry as Ever!

The United faithful will be looking for Michael Carrick to get back what he does best this season.

Last season was a difficult season for the midfielder who, at one stage, found himself helping out as an emergency central defender.

His form was such that it came as a bit of a surprise when Fabio Capello stuck with him and included him in his World Cup squad of 23.

Nevertheless, Michael is keen to put aside what happened last year on both a personal and team front, to get United back to the top of the domestic pile and hopefully hunt down another Champions League, when he remarks ahead of the fixture against Newcastle United tonight,

"Last season was disappointing and I ended up having a hard summer."

"But this is my fifth season and during that time I have gained a lot of experience."

"I am more determined than ever. When you don`t get what you want, it hurts. You want it again badly."

"I am hungry for success, just as I was when I first came here."

If the remainder of the squad shows and expresses the same hunger then we`ll not go far wrong this season will we!

I just hope his performances actually reflect his hunger this year!

I can't work out why he went off the boil last year!
