United - Sir Alex on Bebe!

United - Sir Alex on Bebe!

With no game until Monday, this weekend is all about sitting back and waiting.

But, with the shock swoop for Bebe having taken place last week, we can treat you to a few remarks from Sir Alex on how he went against his normal practises to snap up the relatively untried youngster,

"When we identify someone with potential we would normally assess over a longer period."

"But we have a great scout in Portugal who has tremendous instinct and we worked on that impulse."

"Bebe`s two-footed, very quick, so the raw materials are there. And other clubs were starting to hover so we had to make a quick decision and said `why don`t we go for it?"

It was a decision, we believe, had to be taken as Real Madrid were also taking a hard look at the player.

Sir Alex goes on to then discuss the background the lad has come from and his attributes, commenting,

"It`s when you look at the boys` background, starting off in an orphanage and then playing in a homeless league. He`s got all the materials and I`m sure we can work with that."

"He`s young and we`re good at working with young players, so that`s why we went for him."

We may not see Bebe much this season but he`s definitely got that work in progress tag hanging around his neck!
