United - Community Shield Injury Woes!

United - Community Shield Injury Woes!

Michael Carrick will not be available for selection for the Community Shield fixture with Chelsea.

It has been confirmed that Carrick picked up an ankle injury during the midweek fixture in Dublin against the Republic of Ireland League XI.

Speaking about the injury Sir Alex Ferguson has commented,

"Michael hurt his ankle. It is nothing serious but he will miss the start of the season."

Others who are looking doubtful include Gabriel Obertan, who picked up an ankle injury on the North American tour as well as the Da Silva twins who are recovering from a bout of food poisoning.

They are, off course, joined by Rio Ferdinand, Anderson and Owen Hargreaves who were never in contention for selection due to ongoing injury problems.

Carrick could have done with playing to re-affirm his qualities!

Chelsea have more than their fair share of injuries, so things should still be fairly even

Carrick was non-existant all last season so i can't see the side suffering too much from his loss. Hopefully we get the old Carrick back real soon.
