United Lose to Chivas!

United Lose to Chivas!

United finished their pre-season North American tour with a fixture against Chivas, in Mexico.

Set up as part of the deal that brought Javier Hernadez to Old Trafford, United were to end the tour on a sad note, going down 3-2.

In a unique set-up, Hernandez played the first forty-five minutes for Chivas and switched to the United side for the second half.

Unfortunately, United were to feel the full force of the little striker when Hernandez scored for Chivas after just eight minutes, giving our hosts the lead.

United responded well with Chris Smalling rising to head home a corner, netting his first United goal, but Chivas retook the lead, courtesy of Bautista in the thirty-eighth minute.

The second half saw Chivas extend their lead when Reynoso headed home a corner before Nani gave the score line a degree of respectability with a goal eleven minutes from time.

Post match Sir Alex Ferguson talked about the impact Hernandez had made, remarking,

'It was always my intention to give him only 15 minutes of the second half as he is in the process of recovering from the World Cup.'

"He will now do some fitness training and endurance work when he arrives in Manchester and he will play more games.'

'Chivas played very well and they were very quick. They pressed the ball well and made things difficult for us. They deserved to win. As for us, we've been away for three weeks. We've done lots of travelling and I think the players need to go home and rest now.'

Rest! It`s the Community Shield next Sunday!

I really do hope Fergie doesn't take the Community shield too lightly.

probably your only chance of winning anything and not much chance at that - at least you can parade your exciting new signings

they could well do - such things do happen! We're focussed on the Premier League again! Losing would not be the end of the world!

Would have thought Chelsea would have been a bit more confident about the CS even with the lack of signings and injuries.
