United - Heralding Another Danish Icon?

Having sold Ben Foster to Birmingham and with Edwin van der Sar fast approaching forty years of age, the suggestion might be that United should be looking towards procuring another top-notch goalkeeper.

One name already thrown into the ring but without any serious concrete foundation, by the media, is that of Anders Lindegaard

Lindegaard currently plies his trade with the Norwegian club Aalesunds but is Danish by birth.

Now when you consider the trouble we went through to replace another Danish keeper, Peter Schmiechel, wouldn`t it be strange if it were to be another Dane who slipped comfortably into the breech should another goalkeeping stalwart decide that enough is enough come next May?

All that remains though is for the speculation to be proved to be just more than speculation!

It would be nice however finding a good GK is very important so this is the one position where i don't mind if we ignore our youth and splash out 20 mil. My preference would be Akinfeev.

You've never adequately replaced Schmeicle IMO; VDS is the ony one who comes even vaguley close. Taiibi made us all laugh though!

It is pretty hard to replace such an amazing keeper like schmeichel, only a handful of keepers have the talent to replace him.

He might be cheap enough for you lot but just because he's Danish doesn't mean he likes bacon.

Akinfeev wouldnt really be that great for us as his style doesn't really suit the Premier League. He's not great dealing with crosses just as Foster wasn't and we dropped points because of him last season. We should be going for players in this guys mold who are able to really dominate the penalty area with their large frame.
