United - Shock Loss to Kansas!

The latest fixture of the North American team saw United slip to a shock loss.

Kansas Wizards were the opposition and in stifling heat it was our hosts that were to emerge 2-1 victors.

Sir Alex Ferguson, with his squad bereft of his World Cup participants, still started with a relatively strong side

Team - Amos, Rafael, Evans, Smalling, De Laet, Nani, Scholes, Giggs, Gibson, Berbatov, Diouf

But the hosts were soon in front, opening the scoring after ten minutes when the ex-Peterborough United player, Davy Amaud, slid a shot into the far corner.

United equalised, with thirty-nine minutes gone; through a dubious penalty decision when Berbatov collected a through ball from Giggs and was challenged, in the area, by Conrad.

The defender appeared to get some of the ball but when Berbatov went down the referee awarded the spot kick and Conrad was surprisingly shown the red card.

Berbatov scored from the spot kick but three minutes later United were to fall behind again with a goal shrouded in controversy.

Kansas Wizards won a corner, taken by Smith, it was met by a Kamara header that hit the bar and bounced down. Whether it crossed the line or not might start up the old goal line technology debate but the referee awarded a goal from which we were not to recover.

Perhaps we`ll console ourselves with the fact that it was only a pre-season friendly and we`ve much bigger fish to fry, across our side of the pond, come the big kick-off!

It's only preseason, it may be a good thing in fact to get these little defensive incidents out of the way now so they don't occur during a bigger game.
TheFamousNo7
Nobody should take preseason results seriously (unless they're consistenty getting beaten 10-0 of course :o). All preseason does is get the players fit and give the manager a look at fringe players and different formations. The real shooting starts August 14th. Can't effing wait!!!)

I don't know, I think this is a portent of the future and I believe a certain octypus predicted 13th place for United this season ... mind you octycoon**** are notoriously optimistic in my experience.
Wswilly3
You should hope preseason isn't a sign of things to come Wswilly, you just got beat by NY Red Bulls.
TheFamousNo7
The Octypus predicts City winning the League and United finishing mid table - its all in the tentacles.
