United - He Wanted a Challenge!

Well he`s certainly got one!

We can only surmise that Yaya Toure is quite happy to be the big fish in a little pond!

That would be as opposed to sitting amongst several bigger fishes in a much larger pond.

This morning the tabloids are full of articles carrying quotes from Manchester City`s overpaid Barcelona reject. Quotes that suggest Yaya is perfectly happy to chase the unknown - a trophy for City, rather than stiffen up the midfield of the City of Manchester`s most famous team.

Speaking about the move, Yaya had this to say,

"Last year Manchester United were interested in signing me."

"When I was talking about renewing my contract, United asked if I wanted to sign."

"Manchester United is a big club, one of the biggest in the world. But City was an interesting challenge for me."

So it had nothing to do with the reputed £200,000 a week they`re prepared to pay you then?

What a load of rubbish. He's just emabrassing himself and City with these quotes. 'I wanted a challenge so i joined City on a 200k a week contract', if he really wanted a challenge he would've joined them for MUCH less.
TheFamousNo7
In all fairness to him both him and kolo have wanted to play in the same team for a long time...however that didn't happen until kolo moved to a team that could actually challenge for the title unlike arsenal I truely believe this year city will be a much tougher crack and perhaps one of the favourites to win the title (i hope however that it takes forever for all those signing to gel and that they struggle initially)

Couple of points - perhaps there are actually players out there who are interested in being a huge part of something new and interesting at a club that hasn't been so successful rather than a mere bit-part player at a club that has been and done it all? And let's face it, players are not blind - they will be watching yoonited matches, hearing the protests, seeing the green and gold in the stands and reading press reports suggesting you have financial problems and aren't signing any new players. That must make players question whether or not to join you, surely? And as to wages - we ARE NOT paying Yaya £200k per week! Stop believing what you read in the tabloids, as that figure includes the players image rights. To put it into context, if you included the £900k per month that Rooney is earning in image rights and added it to the improved £130k per week contract he is being offered, his combined earnings would be approximately £325k per week.

Wolves fan here !! I love watching all the big teams play ( Teams not CLUBS lol ) And for me United do things the right way , I mean Financial problems or not they could buy any player they wanted too and we all know this , But they always seem to bring through English or British players , Chelsea / Man City @ Arsenal , Your always buying Foreigners , I mean City have 1 of the brightest young midfielders and for me the best right back ( English ) in England , In Michael Johnson and Micah Richards and neither will probably get a look in for the amount of over rated foreigners you will bring in , I hope City dont even get in the top 4 and most neutrals seriously want you to fail , United i know you wont like this but I hope either you or the Scousers or Spurs win the League , Your the best bet though and good luck for the season Reds !!!
ODDJOB79
barcelona reject, lol, rumour has it they only sold him because they were getting the best midfielder in europe they were misled into believing they could buy darren fletcher, and oddjob who are all these english players nited are bringing through or even buying, how many you believe it to be its way less than city.
humpty
he is a reject - not fiirst choice in the Camp Nou!
Red Boy
He is a reject theres no denying it. fcb, i understand not every player at City is there for the money. However, i understand image rights and everything, but 200k is alot and he can't say he went there for the challenge, the challenge comes 3rd, you know the main reason was because: 1 - he wanted to play in the same team as his bro 2 - the money.
TheFamousNo7
And you lot call City fans bitter!!!! LMFAO
Bluedub
ODDJOB - stop talking crap. Here's an English City XI, Hart, Onouha, Richards, Lescott, Bridge, SWP, A Johnson, M Johnson, Barry, and two of the many young English lads from the City academy to play up front, Ball and Nimley.
Bluedub
How many of these eleven bluedub actually start on a regular basis for City? Fair enough you've got English talent but you dont use it or, by the looks of it, intend to blood them.
TheFamousNo7
Hart will more than likely be first choice now, at least until Given is match fit. Lescott was first choice CB until his injury last season. Barry and A Johnson will also feature on a regular basis. That's four that I believe will play next season on a regular basis. And then there's the potential signing of Milner. Utd have three, Rio ( when fit ), Carrick and Rooney. As for intending to blood any, Mancini gave Nimley his first PL start last season.
Bluedub
ODDJOB - Michael Johnson has a serious knee injury which rather explains the reason why he didn't play last year, and why he probably won't feature until after Christmas, as he is currently pencilled in for a December return to fitness. As to Micah Richards, well if you'd seen him play ast season you might understand why he's not an automatic first choice. Our manager has come out and stated in an interview that Richards is not for sale, so he's got at least another season to redeem himself.
