United - Ferguson Calls for Winter Break!

United - Ferguson Calls for Winter Break!

After announcing that he`d twice turned down the chance to manage the England side, Sir Alex has decided that the time is right, whilst in North America, to lambast the FA for their inability to grab the obvious.

Our failure, as a nation, at the World Cup, in South Africa, has prompted Sir Alex to jump on the mid-season break bandwagon. Speaking to the media he had this to say,

"The FA has to give the country the best possible chance of doing well in the World Cup."

"Because of the nature of our game, and because of the demands from television to have a programme every week, the idea of a winter break, which I was first talking about 30 years ago in Scotland and I have done since I came down to England, has come to nothing."

"They must realise that, going into a World Cup, they have handicapped their team."

Now I agree with Sir Alex but feel spellbound to point out that a mid-season break would, in the current climate, be hard to predict when it should be scheduled and with the current number of teams in the Premier League, coupled with the competitions they play in, see the season elongated.

Therefore, if we are going for the winter break scenario, and to hell with the television companies, then the Premier League will need reducing from twenty teams to eighteen sides, can you see the clubs buying that?

Yes, a winter break would be a perfect time for manure to jet off around the world to take part in highly lucrative exhibition matches - just the ticket for refreshing those tired legs. Every penny counts, am I right?

A break is needed though i wouldn't do it for the national team ( we're only fooling ourself if we think a poor world cup was because there wasn't a break. No excuses, we are 5h1t quite simply ).

Agreed on all points TFN7. Unfortunately the money men at Sky woulde not like the idea as it would affect their ratings. Oh, and Kyle, can you use proper words like "see" and "you are" rather than the juvenile txt spk please? There's a good lad, no run along to school - you clearly need it.
