United - Could City Finally Win Something?

United - Could City Finally Win Something?

A question that many football supporters would like answering!

As the mocking banner on the Stretford End scrolls over another digit, City die-hards believe that this is their year and that the spending power they`ve shown in recent weeks will lead to a first trophy in what must fell like an eternity.

Today, the tabloids are reporting that City have splashed out another large sum on a Serbian full back, a player to compliment an already expensively assembled squad.

But could it be a case of too many cooks spoil the broth, too many superstars under one roof or something similar?

Rumours are rife at the moment that Mancini is a man under pressure, that several of his stars are unhappy that Yaya Toure has, reportedly, come into the club on a huge salary of £200,000 a week.

Harmony! Or Discord?

On paper, City appear to have a good chance of finally getting their hands on a trophy but football isn`t, as we`re so often informed, played on paper.

It`s a team game, a game about bonding, a game about teamwork interspersed with individual brilliance, a game of bottle - do City possess all those ingredients, can they go all the way this season?

I`m in the camp that doubts they can, which camp do you sit in?

Not taking a shot a City but I believe that this could blow up in thier face. For starters you can't be paying someone like Yaya £200,000 a week and expecting players such as Tevez to be ok with that. Plus what happens when they get another striker? Are they going to pay the new star striker more then Tevez? Is Silva making for money then other stars? Plus what happens when you have so many players that believe that they are bigger then the club such as Adebayor, Bellamy and Robinho and add Balotelli if they get him? Can they control all that ego?

How much is Torres on compared to say, Mascherano or Kuyt? Or do these rules not apply to other clubs? P.S. We've already established that the "alleged" wages for Toure include his image rights in the figure - compare that to Rooney who will be making 130K per week wages PLUS over £900k per month in image rights (approx £225 per week), thus taking his total package to £355k per week. Do you expect the likes of Berbatov, Fletcher, Nani to be happy with that? Make up whatever you want, we've certainly got you worried.

PS - the ammount Rooney earns in image rights was revealed earlier this week in Manchester Mercantile Coourt as a result of his recently concluded legal proceedings, and is therrefore a COLD HARD FACT, rather than the rather spurious speculations surrounding the ammount Yaya Toure is supposed to be receiving.

fifthcolumnblue - lol Come down lad, if you read my other posts about City you can see that I have praised your new manger for at least buying players for key weak spots rather then big names for the sake of buying big name players like Hughes.

fifthcolumnblue - Plus comparing Torres, Rooney and other superstars to players such as Kuyt and Fletcher is just plain stupid. Are you telling me Yaya is on Torres, Rooney level and Tevez is on Kuyt and Fletcher level? No Tevez is a key player and a superstar on your team and it makes sense that he would be upset to be making $80,000K less then Yaya a week. If Gerrard was making $120,000 a week and Torres was making $200,000 a week then yes I would expect Gerrard to be upset. Plus are you trying to deny that there are way to many ego’s on your team? Everyone knows that players such as Bellemy, Adebayor, Robinho and Balotelli have either lashed out at their teammates and their own fans so its not like I was making things up, I was just pointing out facts

Klutch isn't wrong, there's far too many big egos at City fcb being one of 'em. They won't win anything ... again. They've got the squad however i can see the ego's colliding and things won't work so well.

If they get Balotelli, Mancini will probably have a hard time controlling all the egos at the club as players like Adebayor, Balotelli, and even Tevez are all very good players and none will appreciate being on the bench. Also I dont get why they spent so much on this Kolarov guy, he's probably as good as Bridge from what I've seen from him and didn't really have an amazing season to warrant such a big money tranfer.
