United - Is Hernandez More Than Work In Progress?

Whilst his World Cup campaign lasted it was interesting to see how our acquisition from Mexico, Javier Hernandez, performed.

The snippets we saw of him showed that this twenty-two year old could play more than a bit part next season, especially as the games mount up and injuries and suspensions take their toll.

As you`d expect we were not the only ones watching Javier closely, the club, who`d invested heavily in his acquisition, were also monitoring his progress and the assistant manager, Mike Phelan has been quoted, on the official site, as having said this about the youngster,

'We were quietly pleased with what we saw of Javier at the World Cup.'

'He is still on a break but we would like to get him on board as quickly as we can, so he will join us in America. Then hopefully he will be a major influence on the team."

'We did the deal before the World Cup and that has probably helped us a little bit! He has only just begun his career with the national team but already he is a very influential player for Mexico."

'He is young, athletic and as keen as mustard. He will be a good addition.
'We all hope he hits the ground running and adds to what we think is a good blend of youth and experience in our squad. We just hope it all comes together.'

We`ll be interested to see jus how Javier copes with the ferocity of the Premier League before offering any structured comments.

Apparently he was the fastest player at the WC doing 31km/h.So is he ahead of the likes of diouf, welbeck, owen & macheda?
Chelsea24/7
Chelsea24/7 from what i've seen he's very effecient with the ball when given it therefore i already rate him higher than owen. Macheda and Welbeck are both young and still learning so Hernandez will be ahead of them. Diouf looks also like quite a good player but will act mainly as competition to ensure each striker is giving it their all. Owen may even now slip down the line as our 3rd choice striker.

With Berbaflop still in your squad this guy will surely be 2nd choice?!

he could become the shock of the PL!
